Natural Diet

ponygal1129 Mar 24, 2006 02:52 PM

I am trying to make the switch from canned cat food to a more natural diet. I know that I probably should introduce the new foods gradually but what I can't figure out is how much to feed the cat. She is older so I really don't want to take a chance with her possibly losing weight.

Since she is an older cat, recommend you run the idea thru your vet. Older cats have different nutritional needs than younger adult cats. Around age 8 or 9, they are usually switched to "Senior" diets, which in the natural food world, I don't know what the changes equate to. Senior diets are usually tailored around preserving kidney function, etc... Best to talk to your vet since she is "older".

Come to Dr. Pitcarin's Chat on Thursday evening. He's an expert in natural diet. The link to the chat is at the top of the screen.
