Naybody watch PBS lizards?

iso Oct 13, 2003 12:53 PM

That cham on the flatland was amazing!

Not only were its colors the MOST wonderful I have even seen - the way it ate the other lizard was shocking! When it was running over the hotlands and one side was dark and the other almost white with the blue tones...

Anybody know what kind it was? I missed the name.

I think the lizard it was a "bit" larger than the suggested feeding size

It was a Chamaeleo namaquensis or Namaqua Chameleon.

Yeah I watched it. I thought it was pretty good. I was dissapointed though, when they said something about how chameleons have the most amazing colors or something then they showed a jacksons..... I was expecting them to show a big bright Sambava attacking another or some other extravagant thing.... I think that if they had shown panthers or veileds, people would have gotten alot better picture of what a chameleon is really capable of. Not that Jackson's aren't pretty, but they say it like the green color is something that's not ordinary. It just needed some flash. I was also dissapointed in that desert chameleon.... It's just not the stereotypical chameleon. They show it basking on a rock and running across a sand dune.... When was the last time you saw your chameleon do that? In the wild or not. I did like the "tounge shots" and the other facts about the chams, and also the fact that chameleons were a pretty good part of the show.... I just expected something besides Jacksons and terrestrial desert chams. Seems like Jackson's get all the publicity.

It had pretty good scenes huh? So far its the best nature show that had chameleons in it that i have seen. Very good camera angles and quality of film. I was happy that they used a Jacksonii jacksonii, instead of a jacksonii xantholophus. I wanted to see one in action. The chameleons in the vineyards were pretty ineterting; using them as bug-cathching tools and them removing them. Did anyone watch the steve erwin episode where he visited madagascar?

I've been bit by more panthers than all other chameleon species combined. They are very flighty and quick to bite in my experience with them in Madagascar.
