My Strange Cat

teganslaw Aug 31, 2006 04:16 PM

My cat, Star, was acting quite strange today. I sat down after doing dishes and Star jumped on my lap. She kept rubbing against my hand and then proceeded to lightly nip it. All the while she had a look on her face like she was high on something; similar to the look she has when she takes catnip. I think that Star smelled the dishwashing liquid that I had used even though my hands were dry. She seemed to like the scent of it. Every so often she'll act like that; it doesn't seem to take much for Star to get high. LOL.

Kasha gets a "high" off of the smell of my shampoo, espically when I come back from getting my hair cut, because they put all kinds of styling stuff in it. She digs her nose in, and sometimes actually tries to bite me and paw me! so it probably is the same for you, whatever the scent is, they love it.

Belle gets that way every sunday morning when I cut the coupons, she sniffs and licks them, and tries to pull them away from me. I put them in a pile for her when I'm done and she shreds them up and rolls in them... looks to me like it has the very effect that catnip does lol.

Hi There,

Sometimes cats do seem to get high on the strangest things! My Bridge cat, Esther, went wild over bleach. She would come running whenever I would scrub the tub with a cleaner that contained bleach. Then she couldn't wait to get in the tub and roll around after I rinsed it well.

My Ashley loves the smell of my hair when it is newly washed. She starts by rubbing, then starts chewing, then she starts rolling. She also loves the smell of my shoes, right after I take them off. And if it's hot, and I've been sweating, she really seems to get high!

Regards,
PHKitkat

Oh yeah, how can I forget "bill paying day". Not my favorite day, but Kasha loves it. She sits under the kitchen table where I sit, and I dump all the envelopes and inserts on her head. She loves it, rolls around, chews them, then lays on them so I can't clean up. My trash! At least someone has fun while I cry paying the *(&* electric bill!

Pookey loves coupons and looks high when rolling on them -- I sometimes cut them on the floor and pile them up by basic category and he rolls all over them. Particularly funny in winter when he has static as they cling all over his body for quite a while as he walks around the house.

Stanley loves toes. LOVES THEM. Will rub bare toes and lightly nip them while purring and slobbering and looking high. For this reason, I wear socks a lot in the house, especially when I sleep. Early on I didn't and there is nothing like bolting upright at 2AM when you feel something nip your toe...

My Bridge kitty, Daisy loved bleach too - you would have to lock her out of any room where you were cleaning with it. She also loved menthol - like chapsticks and rubs. The funniest was that she ADORED my husband's wash cloth - if it was dry. He'd put it on the floor while I was sorting out the laundry and she'd get on it and roll and rub like she was in heat!

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!

long time ago we used to have a tux cat. he was literally the 'old man' of our neighboorhood. he would go berzerk when anyone in th family chewed spearmint gum. if we were chewing a stick of wrigley's he got the inner silver wrapper. nugget (silly name for a black and white cat but he had big gold nugget colored eyes), would lick chew and drool over it. he'd roll and play with it. he was a cranky crabby joy to watch.
