Lost Harvest

The past few years I've sewn up a couple hundred catnip pillows for one of the local shelters. All the materials come super cheap to free to me except the catnip itself. So this year I decided to grow my own supply.

A few nights ago there was a huge cat fight in our backyard in the middle of the night. The next day I went to dump another pitcher of Miracle Gro on the catnip bush - only there was no bush. All those cats left me was some broken stems and wilted leaves! I've been cleaned out!

What you need to do, is what my folks did, and thier catnip plant is now over 10 years old. After you plant it, make a cage of chicken wire around the plant, be sure to bury it kind of deep so they won't lift it up. You can reach over the top to pick the catnip, the local cats can munch on the leaves that grow through the wire, and everyone will be happy! Good luck!

You were cleaned out but I bet you had some very happy cats in the neighborhood!! And they do get nasty....Belle guards her catnip pile with her life LOL.

Greedy kitties, indeed!

I know the kitties at the shelter must love your pillows. I still have the pillow Stanley and Pookey came home with from the shelter over 14 years ago... Someone kind like you made them for our SPCA's cats back then. It is a sturdy spotted fake fur catnip pillow... Their very first toy and I will keep it forever...

I can just picture one of those kitty's dragging the bush with the other uptop riding it like a rodeo bull down the street.
