Stanley Update

cyclopsgrl Sep 09, 2006 09:47 PM

Thought I'd drop a line and let everyone know Stanley is still doing well. We just passed the 7 month since diagnosis point for his brain tumor/swelling. It is still in "remission" due to the steroids (Prednisolone). We've been able to keep the dose low enough, so no side effects so far (liver damage, etc.) He hasn't had a dizzy episode since this all started in February.

I know he's on borrowed time at this point, "they" say that the Prednisolone usually keeps the swelling down four to six months, and he is into seven now, but so far, so good. It will probably show back up suddenly and agressively, but I am remaining positive particularly because he has gone so long without any symptoms. It is hard to dwell on it when he appears to be a perfectly normal cat for weeks on end now...

Hi Tammy,

Once again, it's wonderful to hear that Stanley is still doing well! Seven months already!

We appreciate your keeping us updated. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like I know Stanley personally.

Thanks for the adorable compliment for Stanley. It is hard to believe they are 15 now... The pics are 3 years old or so (Pookey is missing his right rear leg as of about 2 1/2 years ago). But, they still look just the same. It is hard to think of how it will be without them after all these years of having my shadows follow me thru the house...

Compliments are very well deserved you have two very handsome kittys!

The years do pass fast don't they. Our gals are already four & two years old already. I know thats young but it seems like yesterday they were just kits.

Great thing about cats they look forever young. The really don't age like dogs on their appearences and of course their personality's keep ya guessing too. Since they don't know their own ages either. You'res certainly don't look 15, wow!

Thanks for sharing
Love that Stanely's markings, unique!
