My boa started... acting funny...

oscar parsons May 28, 2003 06:09 AM

He seems healthy. However my normally docile, calm boa, struck his cage glass 4 times tonight at me and others walking by.

I fed him and he responded normally to his food very enthusiastically. I'm curious though as to why there is this behavior change. Is it perhaps that I moved his cage? Perhaps that the basking light was out? The heat pad is still on he still has his hides but seem to prefer his water dish (lake? its huge) lately.

Any ideas? Any suggestions on how to get him to calm down now and act like he was?

Thanks.

Oscar

What are his temps? And can he hide in the cool side comfortably? He sounds like some of the snakes I have seen that were too warm and couldn't hide in the cool so they were really aggitated by the heat. Also, how often does he eat? Sometimes just being hungry will make them grumpy. Combine that with if you moved them then that could be it. But with the soaking too I would check temps.
