Someone's stupidity was my happy ending

Kaseys412 Sep 10, 2006 07:57 PM

For all who know that I adopted 2 cats from the shelter recently.. Shania, and Scotty.. I have a story for you. When I went to the shelter to present them with proof of Scotty's neuter, the lady decided to tell me the tale of Scotty.

He came to the shelter when he was about 3 months old, very tiny and adorable. A very successful local attorney had just been left by his wife, and had two small boys he wanted to find a kitten for. Going into the SPCA, he found and adopted Scotty. He took Scotty home and got attached, and the two boys fell absolutly in love with him, and vice versa. On Scotty's fifth day with his new family, the attorney's wife comes back to him, and says it's me or that cat. This man must be the lowest of all doormats, because he immediatly returned Scotty to the shelter.

It makes me sad to know all that Scotty has been through, he was also in foster for a while, and he is only five months old right now! This cat has been bounced around. I do hope he finds comfort in never having to be taken from the family he loves again.

Definitely a happy ending for you and Scotty.
My first thought was to feel sorry for those two little
boys......... Not just for having to give Scotty up but
mostly for having to live with a mother like that!!!
She leaves them and then comes back to bring more
unhappiness. Poor kids!
Found out after I'd had her a month that my Jeopardy
had been adopted and returned twice because she wasn't
a lapcat. True, she's not But, she's where she belongs now
and I'm sure that's the case with your Scotty.
Thanks for letting us share your joy of adopting! Katc

Scotty had to go on his journey to wind up where he belongs right now, with you!

They held the SPCA open late one night due to my work hours so I could come in and adopt a cat. As you can tell, one cat became two cats (both slated to be put to sleep that night).

Poor Scotty, how sad, but then again, Scotty did really luck out in the end. How much harder for him if he had been there for a few years..and as for his former home, he is better off without that wimp..

Yup, the guy was stupid - the wife will probably leave again, but the cat would have stayed loyal forever. Oh well...at least there is a happy ending for the feline at least. Poor human kids, however, with a mom who would leave them, and a dad who would tolerate that behavior.

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!
