I was wondering what type of toys your furbabies enjoy playing with. I have one siamese who loves to chase the sticks with feathers on the end but my other siamese isn't really interested in much. When I got him I went out and bought a remote control mouse and he seemed to like it in the beginning. It only lasts 3 minutes if I'm lucky before it needs to be recharged. It only take about a minute to recharge but by then he has lost interest!! I need to find something he will play with because he isn't playing throughout the day and is up screaming ALL night outside my door. I realize that cats are nocturnal but this is nuts!! I talked to a friend and she said that it may have something to do with the season change. I used to lock him in a cage only at night but he would urinate in it. I'm not sure if he was protesting or not but since I let him run now there have been no accidents in the house. I just need suggestions on what he may play with before I spend lots of money on toys that he won't like. I sure hope someone has some ideas because I am getting very desperate

well before you go out and spend money on toys they will just ignore, try empty boxes, some paper on the floor for sliding, milk bottle rings, an empty paper bag, no handles and no plastic, a few pennies or pebbles in an empty film cannister..and furry catnip mice are often popular and not expensive..you can also try a laser light , a bit expensive and be careful not to shine it in their eyes, or even just a regular flashlight beam to chase...

PHTessie is absoultely right. Paper bags, cardboard boxes, and wadded paper balls are great fun for my boys. Catnip stuffed toys are probably played with the longest by them of all the "bought" toys. One toy that has endured thru the years (they've had for at least 14 years now) that gets played with fairly often is a Turbo Scratcher. You can get at WalMart. They also sell cardboard insert refills if your cat has claws and tears it up. Sprinkling catnip on the cardboard really adds to the fun. Here is a picture of it with Pookey. It has a ball in the outer track and a cardboard insert for sprinkling catnip they scratch on in the center.

Thanks Tessie and Cyclopsgrl!!! I will definitly try those things out. He LOVES to play in brown paper bags but he is so big that he almost doesn't fit MOL!! He prolly only weighs around 12-16 pounds but last I measured he was 28 inches long!! He is so skinny but he's like a slinky. I have used the laser pointer before and he seemed to like it but I actually lost it He does enjoy it when the sun shines and my watch glistens on the walls. He gets so excited and can't figure out what that is and why it is moving hehe. He doesn't seem to care about balls of paper but I will have to try the film canister thing. Only problem is I have a digital camera therefore I don't have any film canisters laying around. He does have one of those round toys with the track and ball that you mentioned cyclopsgrl but he doen't want to play with it until everyone in the house is sleeping!!!

I guess I will just try to figure something out that is homemade. That way if he kills it or doesn't like it, at least It didn't cost anything.

I bought one of those track & ball toys for my cats after Tammy's recommendation and all of them really like it, especially Voodoo! In fact, when Puss was a new kitten in the house and started to play with it, Voodoo came over and thumped her on the head to make her stop. I guess she thought it belonged to her and not Puss.

The only cat that hasn't figured it out is Willow. He likes the scratch pad, but doesn't understand the ball thing.

If you have a BJ's anywhere near you, they have these huge, very thick cardboard tubes that they use to stack the tires on. I go in and ask for any worn down or extras they have around and my cats absolutly love them. They are perfect sized, and approx 6 feet long give or take. Very fun for them to run through and hide in!! They may have them at a Sam's club too.. I'm not sure.

I sent one to my parents for their cat a few years ago (she is no longer with us). She pretty much only played with it at night. The first few times, my Dad said he jumped up out of bed sure a burgler was in the house, LOL. Eventually, he got into the habit of flipping it upside down at night as she drove them nuts with it in the wee hours, LOL.

Ping pong balls are very inexpensive (get in the sporting section of WalMart, etc.) My boys play with them and I have heard of many other cats liking them... They are light weight and really move when batted by a paw.
