cats and baby gates

We are laughing so hard here this afternoon. My dad who is pretty handy made us a baby gate for a pretty large opening between the living room and dining room/kitchen area. It's not your typical baby gate (which can run around $100 for a large area like we have). It's made out of pvc pipes and and curtain rod holders. In our other place we just gated off one doorway and the cats came around the other way. By then baby Katelyn was distracted by toys and didn't come all the way into the kitchen.

So now we are here 4 years later and actually needing a gate. Hubby came home while my parents, the girls and I were out to lunch and showed the cats how to go through the slats of the gate. When we all walked in a few minutes later the cats were all in the dining area with major pathetic looks on their faces. What is even funnier is that instead of just walking through the slats the gate (which would be much easier), they are squeezing their bodies under the bottom portion of the gate. Cali it's not so funny cause she's smaller and not so hard to do it that way. But Al and Cookie. We have seriously got to get some pictures of them going under like that. It's priceless. But at least they can go through.....a real baby gate they wouldn't be able to, they'd have to figure out how to jump up and over and well they are much too lazy to do that. LOL!

Cats...you never can guess what they are going to do in a given situation. We will love to see pictures!

How funny! I wonder if you had a toy on a string (one of the interactive types) or a ball type toy and you tossed or pulled thru the slats they'd follow without thinking or anxiety and get the idea...
