What is she telling me?

kittyromeo Oct 04, 2006 11:07 PM

Somewhere in my husband's workshop is a nest of crickets. Stinky has been hunting them nightly.

I've heard how cats will "hunt" for you if they think you can't fend for yourself. Lizzy "hunts" a toy up every night to trade for a scoop of kibble. Its a good trade.

But what does it mean if Stinky hunts up a cricket, then drags it off to the nursery for the baby? One day recently I found three! And there is another tonight! Is she telling me I can't care for a human kitten properly?!?

MOL, my guess is she is telling you she consideres the baby family and wants to make sure she gets her share of the goodies

Ah, at least she doesn't do what Smiggle does. She catches the crickets, picks them up ever so gently, brings them to her favorite play area, drops them, then bashes the crap of them, finally eating them. She does this also to the ones outside when we are on "walkies". Wintertime I buy her a dozen or two of the critters (in hubby's workshop, not attached to the house) to keep her amused. The sales folk at Petco think I am nuts "there is that cat lady again for bugs".
