2 new kitten problems

phishnuts Oct 17, 2006 07:48 AM

I recently got two kittens. They are not related and I had one for a week before I got the other. The kitten I had first thinks the new kitten is his personal fluffy toy and follows her around pouncing on her while she is trying to get accustomed to my house. The new kitten is getting p.o'd at the other kitten and gets serious and hisses. She even attacked the other cat but he is oblivious and thinks she is playing.

How does scenerio usually play out? The male cat is relentless and I think they may never get along.

I just got the other kitten last night and may be jumping to conclusions.

They're so young, they'll work this out pretty quickly. Sounds more like play than serious...

If you want to give the new kitten a break, you can put one or the other in a room for a while. Just make sure both have food, water, and litter available...

I think chances are they will become great friends. My Belle was very content being an only cat, and when we got Scotty, she handed out whoopins multiple times a day LOL, but it was almost like eventually he just annoyed her SO much that she was finally took to him. I think if he would have left her alone, they may not have gotten so close as fast as they did, because she would have had no problem avoiding him altogether. It was almost like he said "you might as well love me because I'm not going to stop!!" Within just a few weeks of getting him, they were the best of friends. They lay on the floor, hugging and bathing each other. I think there is a good chance your cats will become good friends, especially since they are both young.
