Breed query

Rescuekitty1979 Feb 12, 2007 06:52 AM

Hi All

Hope everyone is doing good. I still don't have pics of the new baby but I'm just wondering if any of these characteristics rings a bell with any breed boffs out there. As far as I'm concerned he's just a normal, slightly longhaired tuxie with a cute little face but what I have also noticed is:

1: Very large paws so he is going to be big as has already doubled in size over 6 weeks !

2: Very very (and I mean VERY) long whiskers, not only at his nose but also above his eyes (long wispy eyebrow whiskers)

3: The base of his ears is really broad, looks almost as though it's too big for his ears and perfectly symmetrical, again I think his head has a lot of growing to do too.

I was just wondering as I've never seen a cat or kitten with whiskers like his, and they're not particularly sensitive and he still squeezes through spaces too small for his head and rubs them on stuff. Just wondered if it was associated with any breed.

Thanks in advance.

I think if I saw a kitten with characteristics you describe my first reaction wouldn't be "what breed?" but "what feed?" All youngsters grow at mis-mashed rates for body parts; with your discription of outsized paws, ears and whiskers, I'd say Cola is well nourished and is growing to full potential!

Is the ear fur feathery? Maine Coons get quite large (large paws) and have a good amount of fluffy fur. Their ear fur is feathery...

Hey Tammy

Yes his ear fur is very feathery actually so I was thinking maybe a bit of Maine Coon myself, another thing is when you pick him up he always just flops about like a ragdoll cat and lets you do anything at all to him...he's a strange one. He also has a very bizarre hav=bit which I'm not totally sure how to prevent...see next post
