No-kill shelter in Staten Island??

meow2me Feb 24, 2007 12:05 AM

Sorry dear people, that I have not posted in a long, long time. Work has me really tied up. Just a quick note to find out if anyone knows of a no-kill shelter in Staten Island, NY. A friend has just pickup her first stray cat in a have-a-heart trap they were using to trap squirrels. Keeping it is unlikely because they are really dog people, truth be told.

Any information you could give me would be GREAT!!!!

Thanks,

Sorry, not from that area, but have a couple thoughts:

1. Has she called area vets to ask if they know of a no-kill shelter in the region?

2. Has she called a local shelter to ask if they know of a no-kill shelter -- if the aren't one?

3. Recommend trying a Google search on the internet to see if it nets any results for the area she is looking for one in.

4. She can also check into rescue organizations for that area in a Google search (or widen the search some) and they may be able to help her.

If the area vets and shelter(s) don't know of any no-kill shelters, they can also advise of any rescue organizations. Local phone calls and Google searches should net her something.

Thanks, Tammy! I am planning to get in touch with her again in a couple of days. By the way, I meant to post below, but I am really glad your 2 guys are doing so well!

Thanks! It is amazing Stanley is still doing so well in such an extended "remission" on the low dose steroids...
