Monster in the Freezer

cyclopsgrl Apr 08, 2007 11:31 AM

Pookey still has problems with my ice-maker when I turn it on. Since I use it so infrequently (fill the bin and use it for a couple months before turning it on), he isn't used to it. It has probably been three months since I've had it on now... Turned it on last night and he started meowing at it as soon as the water sound kicked on in the back of the fridge and the first load of ice dropped... I turned it off when I went to bed, but he sat up all night meowing on and off at the fridge... Sigh. I didn't get much sleep. Here is an older pic of his staring at the fridge. He sits for as long as he can, then he lays down and stared and meows at it... (He has 4 legs, so the pic is probably about 4 years old). Tomorrow is his 3 year anniversary since his leg was amputated... Still going strong, particularly his lungs (meowing)...

What an ungrateful kitty mama you are! The poor boy stays up ALL night to protect you from the ice making monster and you have the nerve to grump about a little lost sleep? He is the only reason you got any sleep - without his protective watchfulness you could have woken up an ice cube! Tammy and the frozen peas, snuggled up together somewhere behind the frozen OJ forgotten like a Christmas turkey leftover. How heartbreaking it could have been!

Now go give that boy some scritches for his loving protection - you owe him!

I hope that you gave Pookey extra treats for being so brave and protecting you from the freezer monster. A little lack of sleep is worth it when you know you have a guard cat on duty!

What a brave boy to be watching and protecting his Mama from the nasty monster inside those doors!! He deserves treats for all that hard work and the amount of sleep the poor boy missed while on guard duty.

Sigh. I did pet him and tell him how brave he was as I stumbled from bed at 2:30 AM to see if I could distract him from his Vision Quest... He just gets so very concerned by the sounds the fridge makes when the ice maker is turned on... I suppose I'll just start buying bagged ice...
