Pepsi - Queen of the outdoors

Rescuekitty1979 Sep 14, 2007 06:27 AM

Hi Everyone

As most might remember Pepsi was a rescue cat with various timidness / skin problems who is on monthly injections for her allergies. She has always been reserved......not particularly bothered with ever going outdoors and generally keeps herself to herself.

At the end of last year we rescued a kitten who just plagues the life out of her....well until recently. In the last 3 weeks or so she now stands up to him when he tries to chase her about...which was nice to see since he's double her size now !!

We had a small cat run built onto the back of the house so that the 'kids' could use the cat flap and sit in the sun in a safe place (Since we lost Max to a dog when he was an outdoors cat). Pepsi loves to go out but only when you open the human door to it....we always assumed maybe her stomach hurt from the allergies irritation and she was small compared to where the old cat flap had been installed.

Anyway.....this morning I was hollering all round the house for her, could not find her at all after I was getting ready for work and I was panicking...until I realised she is an indoor cat, there's nowhere she can hide !! Anyway from the kitchen I heard Baby Cat (Cola) trilling in a crazy kind of manner and staring at the cat flap. Turns out that Pepsi had gone out the flap first time ever on her own !! and was now not letting Baby come out to enjoy the sunshine.

I almost fell on the floor...... My partner is home today and said she has been in and out the flap at will all morning and is demanding attention at every spare minute.

Finally our little girly kit is coming out of her shell...it's taken about 14 months of dedicated care and patience to get her to this so I am so so so so happy I just had to let everyone know.

GO PEPSI !!!!!! (PS She is the Black one on the pic)

Hey Jaime

Cola is my big strapping boy kit that I got as a rescue kitten on boxing day last year. He is a big lover and just kisses and hugs everyone and anyone........such a character

Here's a few more of the boy

Isn't it great when you see her finally starting to come out of her shell and becoming the little queen she deserves to be. That is quite an accomplishment after 14 mos.

Hi Pam

It sure is crazy that it's taken this long but she was a rescue kit and who knows what terror she witnessed in her couple of years before we got her.

Just this morning she was swiping at a toy I was dangling for her on her back, eyes huge with a little kitten face on....awwwww

Well aww...that is until I was too slow to get out of the way so I now have war wounds on my arm ha ha, don't mind though cos it's great to see her like that.

Boris was a rescue kitten and even though he has reached the great old age of 5, he still can be quite skiddish at times. I suspect that he will never outgrow that part. So it took awhile, she seems to be finally feeling comfortable with her situation now and that is the great part - she is beginning to trust again.
