Water Dispensers & Organic Cat food

sunshineneko Feb 19, 2008 08:25 AM

My main concern at the moment is I am interested in buying an automatic water dispenser for my two cats. However I put a teeth cleaning additive into their water. I don't think this may be a good idea to run through a filtered water system. Perhaps they make a water dispenser designed for this issue? maybe not.

Also I would like to know any information/opinions/facts one may have on "Whole Foods" organic/natural catfood brand 365 (not sure if thats the whole name. as I'm not too familar with whole foods I just saw this in their store and they were sold out of the catfood version at the time.)

I think that you can find unfiltered water dispensers but I am not sure. I bought my cats one and they managed to dismantle it so gave up on that idea. As for organic cat food, I have no idea. Have never heard of that brand but maybe some others have and can help you.

Hi There,

As far as I know there aren't any special water dispensers designed for use with additives, but I suppose you could remove the filter from some models. I'm not sure since I have never used one for my cats, though.

Whole Foods "365" brand is, I believe, closer to a supermarket brand in quality, rather than a true premium brand. I did check it out at one time and I think it contained a lot of pork, which some of my cats find hard to digest, and by-products. What I would do is read some of the labels when they get the food in and make your decision from there. This is always a good thing to do whenever you are contemplating feeding a new food. The Whole Foods where I live carries many different high-quality brands so you can make your comparison right there in the store.
It's always a good thing to have a meat-based source of protein as the main ingredient and try to eliminate grains, especially corn.

Hope this is helpful to you.

The list of ingredients does not list pork or anything related to it. also there is no list of meat by product which it also mentions on the packages else where as not having.

refering to "Whole Foods 365: Holistic Baked catfood: for all life stages". which was the only store brand of dried catfood available

Hi There,

This is most likely a decent food, then. I think I'll check it out myself for my cats.

I was actually referring to the "365" canned food containing pork. This was probably last year, when I was looking for new foods not affected by the recall. I prefer to feed my cats food without by-products and grains.
