My cats insist on drinking out of the dog's dish. Is this because it is more convenient, being on the floor, while theirs is elevated about three feet (so the dog can't drink out of it!)?

Or could there be some other reason? I know cats like to drink out of the sink and other places. Mine just seem to like their bowl, and the dog's bowl.

Could be they like his water bowl! Or theirs are too small. Kasha has always had a 1 qt Corningware bowl to drink from, won't drink unless she can get her entire head and ruff over the bowl.Bradley doesn't care, he just does what she does.

Cats are complicated creatures and it can be difficult to figure out why they do things the way they do. It can be that the cats may prefer the location of one water bowl, the type of bowl, what the bowl is made of, running water, etc. They are creatures of habit, though, so once a routine is established they usually keep to it.

What a nice little furry family you have there. All of them are beautiful. I have several water bowls in the house and I still have some who insist in drinking out of the toilet. Also I know that I have to refill my dogs bowl more than most of the other ones so the water is probably fresher there.
