My Tabby boy BEN NEEDS prayers

marespooscats Jun 17, 2007 11:04 PM

He has been unwell and losing weight and an ultra sound showed im to have Typylitis - an inflamed, thickend Cecum.

He was put on flagyl and did so good then suddenly the hot weather came and he simply refused to eat.

He is better in cooler weather but not well. What can I do to help him/

Hi Heidi,

If Ben is still on Flagyl it can be affecting his appetite. It's best to give it with food to help avoid GI upset.

Many cats have poor appetite when it is hot. You can try offering Ben some strained meat baby food (with no onion added), or even some regular chicken or turkey. You can even get canned chicken, which almost all of my cats love.

What I do when the weather is hot, is make sure my cats have a variety of different things to eat. Since the pet food recall, I have been feeding a partly homemade diet and my cats are eating the chicken, ground turkey, and ground beef very well. They also seem to like these foods when they are still cold from the fridge on hot days.

I'm sending Mega Glow and prayers to you and Ben.

Regards,
PHKitkat
