i'm officially freaking out

carrotfairy Oct 13, 2003 04:11 PM

so Z hasn't pooped in 3 weeks. she constantly hides in her log and she has eaten maybe 5 times. she still looks good and when she comes out on occassion she looks alright. the thing, is we had a sudden drop in temperature about the time she started doing this. i mean the weather literally went from 95 degrees a day to about 75 in one week. we live in a very old house without any insulation so i'm sure she felt the drop and thought it was time to "chill" (pardon the pun) for the winter????

the temp is now about 65 to 75 depending on the weather.

should i leave her alone

the non-pooping thing really freaks me out. i'm like an old woman who can't stop obsessing over bowel movements. mahaha

Wow, I'm in pretty much the EXACT same situation. Someone suggested it may be brumation. Even so I don't want my dragon to go into brumation with a stomach full of crickets and silkworms. If you scroll don't you should be able to find my post.

Amy,
Try to give us some more information like age of dragon and the set up of your cage with hot and cold temps.

do you have any lighting or anything for your bearded of do you just let the tempt in the cage go with the temp. in the house? and yes it might be brumation but you shouldn't brumate your dragon with out getting a fecal down before hand and it would be good to get a fecal done anyway just to see if she has any parasites

Try warm soaks in water for 10 - 15 minutes a few times a day. Offer pureed carrots or squash with her greens.

What is her basking temperatures? I noticed you mentioned temps but n o indication if that is your house temperature or the ambient temperature of the tank. The baskign temp should be much higher than those temps you indicated.
