Cat getting Drunk ?

ChrisNrose Jan 27, 2004 08:13 PM

I have a year old female cat, who has a bizzare act that she pulls after anyone in the house has used anything containing Clorox (bleach). She rubs all over anything, and cries like she's drunk on catnip. Is there something here I should be checking, I've never let her near it, nor subjected her to being in the same room with it. She just acts odd after smelling the scent of it. Any tips? Health precautions ?

Please email me back at Dizturbd1@sbcglobal.nospam.net

remove .nospam to get through.

My female cat did the exact same thing whenever she smelled bleach. The biggest safetly issue is to not let her breathe the fumes or get where she can come into contact with the stuff - which it sounds like you are already doing. If you can rinse all surfaces thoroughly this will help too.

I have heard that ammonia will help stimulate urination, but I've never heard anyting like this about bleach.

Mine enjoys the scent of white vinegar...

Stange little beasties!
