I have 4 indoor only cats and had a nightmare with an escapee last summer. Now that the nice weather is coming, I was getting nervous. One of my cats was adopted over a year ago as a pregnant stray. Now that she's an indoor cat she sometimes hangs around the doors longingly and ambushed me a few times. She has darted into the garage 3 times on me (I'm handicapped, so slow) but luckily the garage doors were closed. If someone left a door ajar, the other 3 would follow out of curiosity.

Last week when I was in the pet store (my favorite place) I bought a bottle of stuff called 'Boundary' that is meant to keep cats off of furniture or out of shrubbery (it's indoor/outdoor). I sprayed it around my doors and the cats don't go near them! Even Holly stopped hanging around near them! The stuff has no odor to humans, but it gave me some peace of mind! I refresh it every few days and hopefully they will just get out of the habit.

Interesting. Thanks for the endorsement. You never know when you might need something like that!

Thanks for this post! A friend is about to move into town after living in the country where her two cats could go out on the patio every morning and evening for a couple of hours. She's afraid of them wanting to go out in town. I'll buy her some of this as a housewarming gift and hope it works to keep her cats away from the doors! Katc
