Bad kitty

goawaynow Jul 03, 2004 01:44 PM

Hello, I have a very bad kitty, and I need some suggestions. Here is the problem. I have a female calico named Phoebe that we just adopted acouple months ago, she is about a year and a half old, soon to be spayed. She jumps on everything. Im not talking about table and stuff like that, I have other animals. I have two parakeets she has pulled down 3 or4 times. I cant put them any higher up they are on top of a cabnet. I have a guinea pig cage housing 4 button quails she jumps on. At night I cover the birds but she still messes with the quails. I put things ontop of the cage but she knocks them off. Soon they will be going into a bigger tank so she cant knock it down. She knocks down plants almost every night. She has knocked over one over my baby geckos, she sits ontop of my breeder geckos cage, she knocked over my boyfriends betta one night. Jump up ontop of my snake cage which is about seven feet off the ground. She has fell into the fish tank before, pulled down my short tail possume cage, breaks things, a lamp ect.... So I don't know how to keep her off things I have never had a cat that was so bad. Other than that she is good, very friendly. She cant be board, she has two other cats and two dog to play with and lots and lots of toys and a kitty condo and a scratching post. I'm loosing sleep because I jump at every noise afraid she is going to kill something. BTW I live in a one bedroom apt. so I cant put her is a separate room. Sorry this is so long, thanks for reading and any help you can give.

Sounds to me like she is a very active and curious kitty. Keep in mind, all of these are very new and exciting stimuli for her. Also, cats are hunters and predators by nature, so this is all very natural to her. It sounds like your other cats have adjusted to everything, and learned to live with it and not cause a ruckus, and I would expect that in time, she will as well. Sounds like a pretty full place for a one bedroom apartment, try and give her some time to find a cozy place, and for the novelty of everything else to slow down. Good luck.

I have had alot of cats over the years, but none like her. She is great, but I need to find a way to keep her off the other animals. BTW she is the 2nd cat to come in here. My oldest, Kenny, I've had for about 6 years, then maybe 2or 3 months ago we go Phoebe, then about 3weeks after we got her a friend asked if we could take her friends cat, Sebation, and well.... But anyway if anyone has any ideas how to keep her off the other animals' cages that would be great.

Thanks
