Better to drive or fly as cargo?

mexigrl Oct 05, 2004 04:28 PM

Hi - I am moving from CT to MS in a few weeks. My plan is to take my rather "princelike" 2 yr old boy cat with me. It will take me at least 3-4 days with overnight stops at hotels. He doesn't seemed to be too jazzed about traveling, doesn't like the carrier, etc, but I guess that is fairly normal cat behavior.

Any thoughts on whether it would be better to fly him by airline or have him travel with me?

Thanks for your help!

Your cat will be much better off traveling with you. Flying in cargo can be very hazardous. He won't be happy taking a road trip, but he'll be OK once you arrive at your final destination.

Be sure that the hotels you choose allow pets. Also be sure that the cat has a collar with an ID. Try not to leave the cat alone in the car, especially if its in the sun. Even on cool days the interior temperature of a car can get very hot very quickly.

Good luck and have a safe trip!
