PLS HELP!! Stressed Cat...because of DOG??

maheu Jan 23, 2005 10:08 PM

Hi,

We have had our Cat Jasper (Female) for about 3 yrs and she is spayed. About 4 months ago we got a Boston Terrier Dog, Hunter.

Although they chase each other regularly, and I am often giving the Dog trouble for it as he is the one usually doing the chassing, they generally get along fine.

The problem is that in the past couple of days, the cat has started peeing in areas like on the carpet near my bed ( The dog sleeps in the bed with us) and the other day found her pooping on the stairs. The dog sometimes goes in her litter and eats her pooh, and also eats her food sometimes. Is this the problem?? Please help me....

What can we do?? Is she feeling left??

Jasper needs to go the the vet ASAP for a check to see that all is well and that her litterbox problems are not caused by medical things.

Since she basically gets along with the dog, the dog might not be what is stressing her out. Have there been any other changes that you can think of? Or perhaps the dog unexpectly startled Jasper and that is why she is having troubles.

Hunter needs to be kept out of the litterbox because eating cat poop can be harmful to dogs. Also Jasper's food should be kept out of Hunter's reach - although cat food in small quantities wouldn't hurt him, Jasper may smell his scent on her dish and that might be causing the problem.

Good luck! Let us know what the vet says!
