My female kitten urintes on my bed

candicedelane Aug 28, 2005 05:22 PM

I have 2 kittens, both female, and they have been really good about using the litter box up until recently. Their litter is cleaned every day, and they get lots of attention but on almost a daily basis, one of them is peeing on my bed. One of my co-workers said to keep them out of my room for a while, but will that actually help anything? Or does anyone out there have any suggestions for me?

Sudden changes in urinating behaviour always warrant a vet visit as they can indicate a urinary tract infection. To pee outside the box is one way of a cat to communicate to you that something's wrong.

After she has a clean bill of health you can think about other possible causes - stress, boredom, intimidation etc. Locking them out of your room could actually aggravte the problem as it would add stress for the cat.

First have her checked out, please, and tell us what the vet said.

Thanks and good luck!
