Cat very hyper active

My fiance and I have had our cat patrick for a year. We got him when he was kitten so he is a little over one. He has always been very curious and hyper as most cats are. But latley he is scratching at everything and anything. Typically I know cats scratch at things alot but it seems to be getting more and more intense as the days pass. He also is getting into everything and meowing alot more. Just the other day he was meowing and then all of a sudden jumped high up into the hair and slam dunked the top of the bedroom door. Managing to knock the towell and himself off and do a back flip. He has also learned to jump onto the book shelf and stand on top of the fish tank and stick his paws is. As I realize cats are very curios but he has never noticed the tank before or bothered it in anyway. He bites at my fiance's ankles and nibbles on his fingers sometimes. Yesteray I gave him cat treats and he ate them as he normally did at first but then proceeded to lift part of the rug up and hide the treats underneath it and then dive after it like some game. I guess I feel like some of the behavior is normal but at the same time a little over the top. We do not have another cat but are thinking of getting one. Do you think that his behavoir may be that he is lonley? We are both home most of the time. So he isn't left alone. Also he is neutered so we don't think he is tommying...could that be it though? Any advise would be helpful...haha hopefully Im not just crazy and maybe he is going through something. Thank you for your time!

If yourcat was older like a senior cat I would gues on it having hyperthyroidism, but this usually occurs in a cat 10 or over. He might be lonely but I would check with my vet to rule out any medical condition.

A vet check is an excellent idea for starters. Then you might want to take a good close look at his environment. Has anything changed - even moving a chair from one corner to another? Does he see cats outside the window?

Cats are very frisky and playful for quite a while even after becoming adults. This could be what's going on. Be sure to take lots of time to play with him and try to wear him out with games and fun.

Good luck. I hope some other folks will weigh in with their opinions!

Hmmmm...LOL This sounds familiar.I raised a cat from a kitten and it was just me and him.You have to spend a lot of time with him and at his age he will want to play a lot.Have a pint of your blood handy because you will get scratched.LOL
You will become his Mommy and Daddy and his best toy.I could write a book on Babba and his activities and some of the things hes done to me.As he gets older he will slow down.
He will also give you all the love and dedication you want.Remember your everything to him.Oh one more thing he will try and train you and don't fight it just let him do it.LOL
