Traveling Overseas

rma Mar 21, 2006 01:21 AM

I have a cat who is 2 years old with "asthma." Her reactions are controlled by medication, but I am moving overseas for about 6 months. I am curious if flying with her will impose a risk to her, and I'm concerned if she will make it or not. Especially if I don't have her in the cabin with me. I refuse to leave her behind, but I don't want to risk losing her if I take her on the flight. Any advice?

You should talk to your vet about this. My feeling is that it will endanger the cat, and probably on an overseas flight you wouldn't be allowed to carry her on.

If you are only going to be gone for six months, perhaps you could find someone to foster her until you get back. You may have some local rescue groups who can help with this. Again, ask your vet and see if s/he knows of anything along this line.

Good luck to you!

Thaks for your reply. I will look into foster care if I can't take her.
