Bengal vs. Abby

Astilover Apr 17, 2006 02:25 PM

I am wondering if anyone ahs encountered such behavior:

I have an 18 y/o Abby who fell ill after Xmas and was unable to walk very well or get around. He is now on meds and doing fine! (arthritis pain struck suddenly!) Anyway, my 9 y/0 Bengal urinated in the Abby's bed everytime he did manage to get up to use the litterbox (bless his Abby soul)and now that the Abby is better the Bengal is picking fights and being aggressive with him. No biting, but the Abby does not need the stress or harrassmnet. My 2 y/o shorthair "nursed" the Abby when he was ill and is basically his "buddy' and my 1 y/o female shorthair ignores them all. Anyone have any insight? I'm thinking the Bengal wants to be head honcho adn wants the old/sick one out of hte way...even though the small female actually rules the roost...

Hi There,

I think it's possible that the Bengal may be jealous of any extra attention the Aby has been getting. Usually I would recommend letting the cats work things out themselves, but with an 18 year old kitty that may not be best. How about trying to give the Bengal extra attention and making sure that the Aby has at least some quiet time away from the Bengal?

Yes, I have been giving him lots of attention, not giving the Abbey any extra attention for quite some time now, the Bengal just seems to not want to let him be.
Thanks!

I don't look for his to be a passing thing and theres not much you can do about it.It may change but i think there just being cats and like all animals they pick on weaker and sick animals.
Just keep a eye on them and as the older one gets stronger it may change.
