Overbearing Male - Soft femal

carbon Apr 17, 2006 11:35 PM

Carbon and Grace are my two cats. They are both 5 years old. Carbon is rather overbearing. He is always sitting in Graces favourite places. He guards the bed constantly and sometimes bails her up for a bit of a barney. I know that they really like each other most of the time. However carbon sometimes becomes so overbearing that grace will just hide in the cupboard and won’t come out. Carbon is not aggressive he just saunters around with a powerful kind of stride. I don’t know if carbon is to overbearing or if grace is a sooky sooky la la. I think grace will come out of her shell a little if carbon would just learn to share.

Both the cats are nice and have good manners so they don't fight.

Does any one know how to deflate carbons ego just a little???

Hi There,

It sounds like Carbon is the top cat in the household and he just likes to let Grace know that. As long as there is no fighting, I think the best thing is to just let the cats work things out.

Carbon's ego is part of his personality and I would just accept the way he is.

I have a multicat household with 9 cats and even though the top kitty isn't what I would consider aggressive, she does let the others know that she is in charge.

Regards,
PHKitkat

As long as they are not fighting openly, Carbon and Grace have things all worked out. The worst thing we humans can do is try to intervene in the hierarchy of cats!

I know it's hard to see one cat dominate, but that is the nature of things!
