evil cat eats family

chesneysport May 13, 2006 12:10 PM

my grandmother has a simese cat named "Dusty". Dusty is almost 2 years old and my grandma got him when he was 8 weeks old from a man her son knew. Dusty is PURE evil. When he was a kitten, my greandmother and her sister (they live together) woul put him in a small laundry room along with his litter box and food whenever anybody came over, besides us because she didn't want him to get out or get trampled by the little kids. Well he was very biteful when he was a kitten. We all thought he would grow out of it but he didn't. Everytime you went over there they would be screaming because he was biting them or something. Well recently he has been stalking them. He follows them everywhere and watches them. He bites hard, really hard. He has drew blood from them many times but they ingnored it and didn't do anything. My family and I had told them he was evil and mean. Everytime we walked in the door he would hiss and growl at us. But they said he was just mean to us because we were "strangers" to him. Well, just the other day dusty took a huge bite out of my great aunt, they gave up and took him out to the humane society. Theysaid it would cost 90 dollars because they would have to seperate him from other cats. They decided not to because no one would adopt him and he would be put to sleep. So they still have him but they don't know what to do. He likes water and sometimes will get in the shower with my grandma. we really don't know what to do!!!!! HELP BEFORE HE DOES ANY MORE.

It sounds like you cat has a mental proplem and for the safety of your family he should be turned over to a local shelter to see if they can help him. This is not unusal and your famoly always comes first.

There is something seriously wrong with this cat. He should be taken to a vet for an exam - with the warning of how vicious he is. The vet may be able to determine a cause, or recommend an animal behaviorist or medication to calm him down while whatever is going on can be worked out.

The cat is not "evil" - he is responding to some unknown problem in an aggressive way. Unfortunately inbreeding may have caused this temprament. It's hard to determine. A vet is your grandmother's next best step. In the meantime the cat does need to be isolated when strangers are around.

thanks for the help, is there any way we can get around it without having to go to the vet?

The cat really needs to be evaluated by a professional. Good luck!

Is there a problem that you cannot take the cat to the vet for an evaluation? The cat could be aggressive from pain...
