Siamese cats fighting

siamesemiami Jan 12, 2008 11:32 AM

I have 2 siamese indoor cats, male & female, who have been raised together since birth. I've had them since 8 wks old. Yesterday the female saw a stray come to the front door and switched into attack mode. The stray was gone but then she turned all the aggression to my male siamese. Now they are hissing and can't stand each other. The male is in defense mode but the female won't calm down so he gets worked up. They have always loved each other. How could this happen?! Thanks for your comments and I appreciate any advice!

This is called misplaced aggression. She could not get at the outside stray so she turned on the nearest thing....her brother. This of course, shocked him and he fought back and now they are mad. You can try to separate them for a while and then reunite them and see if they remember the love and forget the fighting. Or if they are not actually hurting each other or physically fighting, let them work it out and make up on their own. I have several sets of siblings and usually if they get into it, in a couple days they are back to normal after some pouting and nasty talking to each other.
