My relationship with my kitten

Onyx62205 Sep 08, 2005 11:50 AM

I think my kitten (Onyx) doesn't like me that much. When I first brought her home 3 weeks ago, she'd greet me at the door when I come home, sleep with me all night, stay with me when I wanted her to, and cried for me whenever I left the house.

Now, the only time she cries is when I put her in the crate or when I feed her. It almost seems like she wants nothing to do with me.

Is there are reason you are putting her in a crate? This could be causing her to become de-socialized. Try your best to minimize her crate time or to totally eliminate it.

Try playing with her - she needs that! Use one of those kitty tease things. Talk to her and give her some yummy treats when she responds in a friendly way.

If she is not playing, then she needs to be checked by a vet. She might be having some problems that need to be looked at.

Boris was about 9 weeks old when I got him. Since he was an abandoned kitty and had just spent a week at the vet's, I felt that he needed extra bonding time. Since I worked during the day, I would spend an hour at night with him just playing and being around him. Your kitten probably needs some play time to help in the bonding process as well. Boris still enjoys his night-time play even now as an adult.
