My Buster and his hemp infatuation

psycabefl Oct 22, 2005 12:25 PM

I like to make hemp necklaces and whenever I make something with hemp cord, my kitty, Buster (Von Schnitzelpusskrankengescheitmeyer) just loves it. I think it's his favorite thing in the world! So I got my brains together and figured out how to weave him a little pouch with it to stuff with catnip and it has a built in tail with about 16 cords at the end. He absolutely LOVES it!! He's all worn out now taking his early afternoon cat nap! Does anyone else make things with hemp and has anyone ever made their cat toys with it? I made him a collar with it once and he liked it but it kept slipping off so we put his other collar back on him.

That sounds like a wonderful cat toy. There may be something in the hemp that reminds Buster (I won't attempt that hilarious last name, but I love it!) of catnip. Some cats also like to chew at wool, so it may be something related to the fact it's a natural fiber!

So, yeah... anyone who says cats aren't smart are kidding theirselves (myself included). buster loves the tops on water bottles because they slide on the floor. (there were about 30 under the couch today.) Now, our apartment is carpeted except for the bathroom and the kitchen. We have a rug in the apartment and he did the funniest thing today. We watched him get up against the bathtub and pull on the rug until it was all bunched up against the tub. then he started playing with one of those caps on the tiled floor because it would slide across the floor. It was so cute and such an intriguing act of problem solving.
