ok so we moved into our house a few years ago and our neighbors have never let up on us. over the years they constantly complain about everything: grass being too long, car getting in the way, cat smell. lately they have not let up on the cat smell at all, you cant even smell the litterbox on our side. my mom doesnt know yet and i know it is going to upset her...we constantly have to deal with their cigarette smoke (my mom, brother and i are all allergic) and deal with their dogs in our backyard pooping and digging...but we cant say anything because they will go to the health board..i dont know what to do anymore. has anyone else had problems like this? if so what did you do? and if anyone has any kind of suggestions PLEASE TELL!!

Are the litterboxes outside? Then keep them as clean as possible. Even if the Board of Health comes, they will be unlikely to do anything - and if they do, point out the dog poop in your yard. If the litterboxes are inside, they should be clean too, however the Board of Health wouldn't even bother to check such a minor problem. They've got more important stuff to do. Don't worry, but do tell your mother about that threat. I think she'll help put some of your fears to rest.

all of our litter boxes are inside, my mom cleans them absolute minimum of once a week, but usually at least 3 times a week, depends on everyone's work/school schedules. the last time this happened, a person from the board of health did come, he said he would check back...but never did. it is just making my mom stress out so much and i cant stand it when someone makes my mom stress out, well at least if its not me lol.
i will however tell her what you said, thanks for the info, you at least put some of my fears to rest
