Just adopted a new girl and now all 3 girls are hiding!

spootabsia Aug 03, 2004 02:48 PM

I just adopted a sweet emaciated, abcessed gums, ear mites, infection in the eyes, kitty girl. She came home from the Vet and explored the house and my two other girls, Corkie - VAS tripod, and Kotton complaining BIG Siamese girl took one look at her and hid! Today all THREE girls are hiding and their "brother" Benji cannot figure out where his sisters went!

HELP what do I do next? Kotton was adopted over a year ago and until I adopted Benji she deliberately terrorized Corkie so Corkie is already afraid of her. Benji is a bit over active for Corkie but is kind to her but with Kotton and Missy he is an overbearing BRAT! Missy tolorates it for a bit and then runs BUT Kotton -----! SHE flops over on her back and screams. Then soon as she can get up ( she is 16 pounds and Ben is 12!!!!!) she runs screaming!

I NEED peace in my home and for all to get along but what do I do next!?!?

They are working out their hierachy right now. If you can separate the newcomer for a while it might help, but since they've already met, you might be better off just letting them work things out. You will have some noise and hissing for a while, but hopefully no outright attacks.

Getting a Comfort Zone plug-in with Feliway and rubbing a drop of Rescue Remedy on the eartips might also help make things a bit more peaceful.

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!

The above post contains good advice...

But there is such a thing as too many cats in one space... It sounds like you have a lot of them!

I have 3 girls and a boy! The Siamese girl is worried that the new girl is taking her place so she just keeps needing reasurence and otherwise just goes off to sleep. My VAS Tripod girl stays in the living room 24/7 as she is afraid of the Siamese girl. New Girl stays under the bed in back bedroom as my young male cat won't stop mounting her!

NOW if HE would just let her alone she would come out and stay out!
