Tubefeeding tortoises

will a. Oct 13, 2003 07:10 PM

I was just given a star tortoise that is in very, very poor shape. It has decent weight but will not feed per the person who gave him to me. I have all the eqipment necessary to tube feed but I'm unsure of what to actually give him. If anyone out there has any experience/suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Walkabout Farms makes an excellent critical care mixture. It comes in a powdered form and can be rehydrated with either water or Pedialite.
An alternative would be standard greens and grasses liquified in a blender. Because of the low water content contained in most of their natural forage it will be necessary to add some water or electrolite solution so it will pass through the canula.
I wish you luck
