IIntoductions can take a month or more for both cats to feel secure. Cat are territorial and need lots of space. They recognize familiar things with scent 10,000 stronger than our noses. Put the new kitten in a small room like a bathroom with a litterbox, toys, food, water, etc. and let it sleep on a towel, a few times a day take the towel out and present it to the current cat to get familiar with the new one's scent. Used SUPERVISED visits only for the first week or two, always putting the kitten back into the "safe room". Granted there will possibly be hissing, caution and the current resident cat may avoid you AND the new one. But if you give the resident cat attention and make it feel comfortable while slowly introducing the new one, they will eventually work it out. You just want to be sure the current cat will not harm the little one so don't leave them alone until the little one is a bit older and you are absolutely sure they get along. Better to be safe than sorry and spare the little one injury or death.
