New Kitten

EmmaB Jul 07, 2006 10:36 AM

I adopted 2 kittens (brother and sister) about a month ago. Right now they are about 14 weeks. They get along great and are really bonded to each other. My friend found a kitten right around the same age, but unfortunately she can't afford to keep her or pay for the spay and shots. I offered to take her into my home. I have the finances and the time to spend and would love to add her to my family. I'm just worried that the other 2 kittens won't except her. What is the best way to introduce the kittens to eachother? What are some things to watch for? Any advice is appreciated!

Hi There,

How nice of you to be willing to add this new baby to your family!

Kittens will often get along right from the beginning. Still, it would be a good idea to isolate the newcomer for a couple of weeks to be sure she isn't incubating something contagious. I also highly recommend taking her to the vet before you bring her home for an exam and a feline leukemia test.

I think that by the time the kittens are all together they will be very familiar with each other's smells and there won't be any problems. It has always been very easy to introduce a kitten here. They tend to be so trusting when they are babies.

Good luck, and please let us know how it goes!

Regards,
