Possible new cat

And it's a female calico. Since I've been reading about this cattitude calicos seem to have, I'm doubting if it's a good idea. My husband will kill me (not really) if I bring in another cat. Lost mine back in March and we got another at the shelter ... DSH and a male tabby. He's about 18 months and is the sweetest, loving, laid back cat (with the energy and mischief of a young cat). I haven't decided 100% on getting a new one but heading in that direction. There's so many at our shelter it's sad.

Hi There,

Yes, Calicos do tend to have their TUDE, but I love them and they can do well with other cats. I had a wonderful calico for 19 years and I still miss her very much 5 years later. She lived with many other cats during her life and had a few buddies.

Since your present kitty is so laid-back, and he is young, this would probably be a good time to bring in a new baby. If you do this, please be sure to make introductions slow and gradual. The newcomer should have her own room at first, if possible, so that she isn't overwhelmed by the whole house. She will feel much more secure in a smaller area at first. Plus with her having her own bowls and litterbox, you will be able to monitor how she is doing.

I agree.....it is so sad knowing how many animals are in shelters. Thank you for thinking of taking one of these precious babies in

Regards,
