Cat Leaking Urine

bear850 Jun 27, 2003 02:55 PM

I have a cat who constantly leaks urine. he is otherwise healthy, but the vet says that he can't tell when he has to go to the box. he is currently on medication, but it isn't really helping and its really expensive! has anyone heard of any other ways to deal with this problem?

Unfortunately I have no experience in this area to offer you any advice. I would be inclined to get another opinion from a specialist.

There are cat piddle pants - check out http://www.joybies.com/! These may help. Also I've read where some people use regular disposable diapers and just cut a tail hole in them.

How long has he been on the medication? With some meds, it simply takes a few weeks for the effects to kick in.
Nonetheless, if this were my cat, I'd probably be seeking a second opinion as well. Please let us know how your kitty is doing.

Thanks! we are going to get a 2nd opinion - Toby is a wonderful, playful, loving cat! he's been on the meds for a couple years now. he is also a twin and his brother is very healthy.

Toby did break his tail once - maybe that has something to do with it...
