help with toilet training my cat

ross2k Apr 05, 2004 01:05 PM

I've been following the instructions online and I've made some progress. I'm at the stage where she is comfortable using a bowl with very little litter inside the toilet bowl. Everytime I catch her using it I force her to put all 4 paws on the seat, and then she goes. But every time I try putting a little water in the bowl or taking the bowl away she just holds out and waits for me to put the bowl back, or if I wait too long she uses the shower.

Does anyone have any advice?

I can't help you. Sound interesting though. I have never tried to toilet train a cat.

At this point you should probably continue with the bowl in place a little longer. It sounds like she's not quite comfortable with using the toilet yet. Do not touch her or force her to do anything while she is eliminating or getting ready to.

She may never reach the point where she's going to use the toilet. All cats are different. However, when training a cat to do anything you just can't rush the issue. Give her at least a week of the bowl, then either remove it or add water and see what she does.

Good luck. Let us know if you succeed!
