Sporadic bed pooping kitty ^..^

mixikitten Aug 17, 2004 11:34 PM

My Mixi (3 year old female Himilayan) has no problems using the litter box to urinate, and only occasionally has a problem with pooping, but she will generally go just outside her box or on my bed. It really seems like she's mad about something but I can't put my finger on what it would be. Today I just washed my bedding and as soon as I made my bed she crapped all over it! She seems to like to do it right after I clean it, like she's seriously seeking revenge on me for something!
Mixi and I just got back into town after cat-sitting for my brother and his cats used her litter a little bit, so I'm wondering if that's why she's copping an attitude about pooping there, but I don't know. I made sure her litter was scooped clean when we got home so that's not an issue.
I don't have any other cats and Mixi only pulls this once in a while. I am having company this weekend and will not be pleased if she acts up like this during that time, especially since I will be sharing my bed with this company!!!

It's not likely that she's doing this out of revenge, cats aren't like that. But that's not to say that she might not be stressed. Have you had her checked for intestinal worms? I've had a few cats who would poop in "public", where I would be sure to see it, and in every instance it turned out to be worms. If she was urinating, I would think it could be a territorial thing, it still could be. You need to erradicate all traces of the other cats in the house. Dump the litter and scrub the pans, if they were in contact with your clothes and furniture, wash them well. Give her alot of comfort and assurance.
I would confine her to the bathroom or another small room while the company is over. But I think your best bet is to have her checked for worms, she may have picked some up from the cats you were sitting. Your vet may even have some antianxiety medications for her if the behavior turns out to be nonmedical and doesn't stop. Good luck!
