cat eating cat litter

briannescat Oct 27, 2004 11:17 AM

Okay so my cat has been having many problems lately, ... not eating, sleeping all day. He was eating this one kind of cat litter a few different times. I threw it away yesterday, now i see him eating another kind of cat litter. But he wont eat his normal food. I took him to the vet yesterday even though he hates people. But i took him because he threw up yellow bile. The doctor could not get a blood sample to see if he has any illnesses unless he gassed him again. He did that a few weeks ago and that is when this all started, so i didnt want him to gas him. anyways i guess i have many problems to deal with here but any idea about why he is eating his cat litter?? thanks

>>When cats eat things like litter, it usually indicates a lack of certain nutrients in their diet. Coupled with the fact that your cat seesm to be more lethargic than usual really does indicate some veterinary intervention.

Given that you cat hates the vets and was on some sort of tranquilizers, you should call and ask about this latest problem. Do be sure to discuss the behavior change as well. Your vet may be able to figure out the best approach since s/he knows your cat.
