I HAVE 3 CATS. SINCE OCTOBER SOMEONE HAS BEEN STOOLING OUT OF THE LITTERBOX ON OCCASION...IT SEEMS TO BE WHEN I AM NOT AT HOME OR AM WORKING. I AM NOT SURE WHICH CAT IT IS BUT I DO NOTE THAT 2 OF THE CATS USE THAT "COVERING" BEHAVIOR AROUND THE STOOL. I HAVE NOT CHANGED THE LITTER AND EVEN BOUGHT THAT ELECTRONIC LITTERBOX AS A 2ND BOX WHICH 2 OF THE CATS USE. MY VET SAID IT IS A RULE OF THUMB TO HABE 1 BOX PER CAT PLUS 1 EXTRA. TONIGHT I SET UP A NEW BOX. I HAVE USED NATURES MIRACLE TO CLEAN THE FLOOR SO THAT THERE IS NO ODOR LEFT. HELP?

I think someone may be having some dominance issues here - cats will do this if they want to be "king of the hill."

If this continues, you will have to take steps to try to figure out the instigator. I suppose you could isolate one cat and let the other two roam for a week, then change the mix and use the process of elimination (sorry I don't really mean to make a pun here!) to figure out who's the culprit. Then you could get a vet check just to be sure this isn't a medical issue.

The rule is 1 litterbox per cat PLUS 1 extra! Personally I have 2 litterboxes per cat MINUS 1! LOL! I have 7 boxes and 4 cats and beleive it or not they do use them all!
