cats moving their litter

Bratty_cat_12 Jul 04, 2005 03:22 PM

My cats somehow move their litter out of the box and onto the floor THEN use it.
What can I do to discourage this habit?

Thanx ahead of time!

Perhaps trying another brand of litter and/or a covered or hooded litterbox. This is a new one to me! Maybe someone else has other suggestions...

Good luck.

Its possible they dont like sharing a box. You might try getting them each their own, also a coverd box may help..and make sure the box is clean. When the box is dirty, cats will often go on the floor nearby and then scoop out litter to bury it..

Definatly try adding a new box. A good rule of thumb is there should always one more litter pan than the number of cats in the house. Also try keeping it really clean (some cats are a little OCD about their boxes). If this doesn't work ask your vet, they might have some more answers.
