Brumation Question...??? I have a Sleeply Guy

madlady Oct 13, 2003 07:53 PM

Our Rex is about 1 year and 1/2 old ..i've noticed since it has started to get colder that he likes to go to bed earlier and is less active during the day. He is eating his veggies and vitamins well and i spray him everyday for moisture. He's not eating as many bugs as usual about 3rd day he eats 6 superworms well dusted. Ive been weighing him and he has lost no weight and his fecal is fine. I bought him a hiding cave and he just loves it. He goes in around 4 in the afternoon and comes out in the morning after his lights are on for a bit. Ive checked all his temps and his enviroment is fine also. Im just wondering if this is normal for him at this age. I hear people talk about there dragons going in the hide box and not coming out for days or longer ..this doesn't seem to be the case with him ..He's just gotten less active since the change in seasons has started but all eles seems fine. Hes still loves to be held and sleep on you chest and laying in the sun on the back of the couch..
I guess im just a nervous mom. i always worry about them because i am so attached to them ..thanks for your help

All dragons are different. Some are out cold for a good couple months, others just slow down and act real lazy. Then you get some goof balls like a couple of mine who refuse to sleep no matter what you do.

If his weight and fecal are fine like you said, I would not worry. 1 1/2 years old is about the right age for this to start happening.
