Litter box duo

sbirdwell Mar 08, 2007 09:23 AM

I introduced a new male cat back in January to our female cat. For the most part, the two cats are getting along (at least tolerating each other). I have noiced that they eat out of each other's dishes and use each thoer's litter boxes. Is this a good sign, or a sign that they are still gtrying to establish territory? I am asking, because I would like to eliminate one of the cat boxes and have them share one. Your advice?

Hi There,

I think it's a good sign that the cats are sharing dishes and litterboxes. However, I advise against getting rid of one box as you should have at least as many boxes as you have cats. Ideally, you should even have one extra box.

I also think it's better to put out as many dishes as you have cats. This will cut down on the possibility of one cat not allowing the other to eat at the same time. I have 11 cats, and 11 plates are put out for each meal. Works very well for me! Especially since I switched to paper plates......lol

Take care,

PHKitkat
