I've got a problem.

coelith Jun 04, 2007 02:49 AM

Heyas. My cat has never been amazing with the litterbox, occasionally missing the box, frequently not covering up her messes, but this has never been a huge issue. Recently she seems to be peeing and pooping randomly anywhere, on the couches, the floor, etc. Could there be any medical issues that are causing this recent behavior? I plan on making a vet appointment later this week, but I thought I'd ask here before. Thanks

I was just sitting on my couch watching tv, and she frantically ran down the stairs, and ran from one spot to another peeing.

Hi There,

Please make an appointment with your vet ASAP. Your cat may have a urinary tract infection, with or without stones or crystals, or may even be diabetic. Have you noticed an increase in thirst lately?

Your vet will want to do a urinalysis, and possibly take an x-ray to look for stones. A blood glucose test may also be done. It might be a good idea to also bring a stool sample along for testing.

Thanks for posting, and please let us know what the vet says. I'll be surprised if there isn't a medical issue causing your cat's problem.

Regards,
PHKitkat
