litter?

JaimeMarie Feb 18, 2008 08:59 AM

What litter does everyone use? Also, has any one used cat attract litter additive?

Thanks.
Jaime

We use Pets Pal, which is an unscented litter. It is made by the same company which makes Pestell, but the Pets Pal comes in convenient 14# jugs. The Pestell comes in 20# and 40# bags, which presents a problem. Cathy and Justin

I use the Petfood Express Store brand of scoopable litter.

I have tried adding cat attract to the litter when Wooolee was having spaying issues. It attracted him right to the box, where he would lie down curled up in a ball and would take a nap. He would then hop out of the box and spray the wall and go back in the box to nap again.

It was a waste of money for him.

I've never tried cat attract additive, and not even sure what it is ....

We have about 10 litterboxes here ... 6 down the basement and four upstairs on the main and second floors. We use Special Kitty (Walmart's brand) scoopable litter in the boxes down the basement, and just plain folded newspaper in the boxes upstairs. Some of our cats prefer newspaper, and it's easy enough to dispose of and put a new pad of paper in ... and no tracking of litter on the main floors. The downside is that you must never leave the real newspaper you are reading laying around anywhere or it's fair game.

I wish I could put the litter boxes in the basement but the only way to get down there is out in the garage.

we use da Arm & Hammer MultiCat stuff round here. it spensiff, but mommy tinks it da best fur all ob us.

as fur cat attrakt, well da additiff (oh, wayt, dis be a hoomin board?), ahem: the cat attract litter has saved a huge number of cats who've come into rescue because of litterbox issues.

Created by a vet, and using pheromones somehow, it used to only be available as a stand-alone litter, and so far i've never seen the additive except on the website, so my experience has only been with the litter itself. The litter comes with directions for retraining the kitty to box-usage, which is vital, as most times, poor litter box habits, once medical reasons have been ruled out, are just bad habits run amuck--so you really DO need to follow the directions. that said, the litter has worked wonders in helping kitties retrain themselves to appropriate elimination habits, and to make themselves into adoptable furry beasties.

i have used it with my personal children as well as rescue ones, and my only complaint has been that, when used with a larger number of furries, it tend to turn into litter-cement--but it's fine for a more normal number of cats.... i think the additive, where you are in control of how the underlying litter itself works, is the best solution!

all of us

(why does woollllllleeeee's reaction NOT surprise me?)

I use a litter called Premium Choice. It's just like Scoopaway, only cheaper and with less dust and no scent. I've tried almost all the litters out there and with some of my cats the larger granule clay litters are simply a no-no. They refuse to use them. Maybe the larger granules hurt their paws. I've used the Cat Attract litter before and it does actually work. Whatever box I put it in, is the box they use most often.

Hi,

I usually buy Target brand clumping litter and I use it in all 10 litterboxes here. Walmart brand clumping is just as good and I believe it is a little cheaper.
