One of my new ebenaui that i purchased, the female has a whitish bump on the side of her head. It is a little smaller than her eye itself. Any ideas on what it is and what i can do about it?
Thanks,

sounds like she has what my sikores females had. i could not tell with out seeing it but try taking to the vet and see what you find out. iodine helps keep her wound from spreading but it was fatal for all of mine . i would quarantine her because it was contagius to my skores. in one of the previeus postings sombody mentioned silvidine? if that helps. it would be good to know what that was as my vet was completly clueless. hope this helps. keep me posted please.
yeah my vet was totally clueless too. I have the female quarantined but I haven't done anything to the bump yet. Should i still put iodine on it? it isnt an open wound just a little bump, slightly smaller than the size of her eye. I will get a picture on as soon as i can.
Thanks,
adam
I have 3 females and 1 of them has a white mark on both sides of her head below the eye. The point being is it just a marking or more? Can you post a pic?
the bump was raised, circular and a dirty white. if they were part of the pattern then it would be a bright white and usually in lines over a phantasticus or ebaunie. what kind are yours lizardhut? hope this helps.
yeah I talked to the guy that i got the ebenaui from and the bump looks like what you described, a raised circle, a dirty white color. I took pictures (i cant figure out how to post them) and emailed them to this guy and he said it was just an injury, probably from shipping. He said to dab some neosporin on it with a Q-Tip, and that the injury was most likely not contagious or fatal. I am still keeping her isolated from the rest though.

I've got 1.3 ebebaui. I don't know how the color/pattern classification works but I think I have the whole set. I'll post pic's later. I did just post a great pic in the gecko form today sooo cute. Standingi hatching.
most all female uroplatus get get calcium deposits undeneath their eyes during the breeding season because that is where they store calcium to make the eggs. These calcium deposits usually appear as white or off white bumps. Hope this answers your question it could be an infection but i doubt it and you should be able to stop quaratine them. I'll post a pic of what it looks like so you can see better.
should i stop applying the neosporin then? She is still eating and looking healthy besides the bump. It is just 1 bump under 1 eye.
My females also have sacks "behind" the eye as do my phelsuma. Could you post pic? Its easy to talk about all sorts of things in this sort of form but "A picture is worth a thousand words" Where is the white spot, what does it look like?
